Fabrication Estimator

SCOPE OF THE POSITION: Provides the necessary elements required for the quoting process for the design and development of prototype and production for machined parts, weldments, and assemblies. This position is expected to provide manufacturing parameters associated with new business opportunities while working with manufacturing, purchasing and accounting to complete quotes Customer and engineering requirements are supported through CAD based design systems per customer specification.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate fabrication estimates using Micro estimating and Excel software
  • Receive quotes from Sales and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
  • Identifies labor, material and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related document
  • Maintain quote backlog with completion dates and schedule quoting priorities through coordination of the sales department.
  • Obtain material quotes from suppliers on an as needed basis for large dollar value purchases
  • Provide customer feedback on drawings to reduce manufacturing costs in conjunction with salesperson.
  • Approve or reject Contract Amendments dealing with price, communicating with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and Purchasing.
  • Purchase and negotiate materials.
  • Initiate purchase orders, agreements and amendments.
  • Maintain computer system integrity with regular maintenance.
  • Participate on and support Company initiatives as required.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering or related field, or 5 years experience serving as an Estimator in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Candidates will have strong computer skills, a complete understanding of horizontal, vertical and turning machining, previous programming experience and knowledge of fabrication and assembly.
  • Good communication and organizational skills, along with a proactive and salesperson personality a plus.
  • Made to Manage and Microsoft Project Manager or other project tracking software is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed.
